A weekend of workshops, talks and work stations with a focus on swapping, upcycling, making, DIY, veganism and minimalism. Located in the heart of Berlin on the Arena Gelände, Flutgraben e.V. is an artist run space next to the river Spree, where we will host our workshops, sessions and talks.

Program

Our event starts on Friday night with a clothes swimping party – a mixture of swapping and pimping or upcycling selected vintage clothes.

From Saturday between 10 am – 9 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, the main floor will be populated by more than 60 designers, activists, foodies, zero waste, creatives, bloggers and influencers to offer open workstations for DIY cosmetics, repair and sewing, upcycling of fashion, children toys, christmas decoration and other presents. We have a repair station for you to bring your old clothes to and pimp them, for example print our MAKE SMTHNG logo together with Makerist on your vintage T-shirt. More into hardware? Repair your broken headphones with Upcycling Future Lab.

Who are the MAKERS

Our partners co-create each workshop together with us – starting with a Swimping Party organized by KluntjeBridge&Tunnel and tHerapy we will enjoy new clothes made by sharing and pimping. During the weekend, upcycling designers like DzainoAnnamariaangelika and Super Fashion Rainbow Camp will show you great upcycling designs and support you to create your own upcycling fashion piece.

Sophia HoffmannRestlos GlücklichFoodsharing and Edible Alchemy present zero waste and vegan cooking and fermentation; Bunny Mission and Recy-Kids will show young and grown up children how to make cuddly toys and produce christmas decoration from recycled materials. And Greenpeace volunteers will produce natural cosmetics with you. In our more exclusive workshops, Elke Fiebig will teach you how to dye textile with plants. With Sandra Schollmeyer you will create beautiful wallhangings made of fabric remnants and Anna Albers will show you how to create dresses without sewing but with buttons.

Another highlight is, that the event catering is fully provided by saved food, prepared by Sirplus and Como Comer.

Enough of doing but longing for some deeper input for your minds? Our program is full of great talks around the question, whether our future comes out of the 3D-printer (panel with Kirsten BroddeNiels BoeingAlexandra Rigos and Martina Glomb), what vegan fashion really means (Katrin Rieber), why minimalism makes happy (Lina Jachmann) or how to build a city without concrete and bad karma (Van Bo-Le-Mentzel). Zero waste activist Rob Greenfield will show his film “Trash Me” and beam himself to us for a live Q&A, Lars Zimmermann will introduce us on how to make circularity and Christoff Gäbler will introduce us to the maker world of the “Verbund offener Werkstätten”. A podium discussion with Fairknallt blogger Marie Nasemann, the bloggers and designers LizOrLizzy (You And I DIY) and Julia Radewald (Kluntje) and blogger and journalist Anna Schunck (Viertel-Vor) will be all around the question why slow fashion is more stylish and fulfilling than joining every new trend. If you want to get to know the ladies already before the event, you can meet them in our Youtube series.

Come join our great crew and get inspired to MAKE SMTHNG!
